# BOS — Business Operating System: Pilot Kit

This kit installs **BOS Lite**, a useful, low-commitment version of BOS that runs inside the tester's own Codex or Claude environment. It does not include anyone else's accounts, data, credentials, or private connections.

## Pick one platform

- **Claude Desktop / Cowork:** install `BOS-Lite-Claude-0.2.2.plugin` from **Customize → Plugins → Add**.
- **Codex desktop / CLI:** extract `BOS-Lite-Codex-0.2.2.zip`, open the extracted folder, and follow `CODEX-INSTALL.md`.
- **ChatGPT Work workspace:** use the BOS plugin share/install link supplied by the sender or have the workspace administrator add it to the workspace Plugin directory. A local Codex ZIP is not a ChatGPT web installer.

Do not install both unless you intentionally want to compare the two versions.

## Before starting

1. In the host app, open or create the native Project you want BOS to organize. The Project remains the home for its chats, files, instructions, and access.
2. Connect at least one useful source in that same app. Calendar plus email is the easiest starter pair; a team or work source such as Slack, Teams, Drive, GitHub, Notion, or a CRM makes the test more representative.
3. Bring your chats: export your Claude and ChatGPT chat history and add the export file to that BOS home Project. The host conversation can fold it in today. (Claude: Settings > Privacy > Export data. ChatGPT: Settings > Data controls > Export.)
4. Start a new Codex task or Claude Cowork task so the newly installed plugin is loaded.

Connections are optional. BOS can build a clearly labeled Demo when a source is unavailable, but it will be more useful when it can read one or two of the tester's approved sources.

## Start BOS

In Codex, say:

> Set up BOS around my existing Projects and connections.

In Claude Cowork, run:

> /bos-lite:create-bos

BOS will interview the tester in two short stages:

1. **Core setup:** identity, native Projects, basic connections, and read permissions.
2. **Module plan:** useful components to add inside the same eight-room BOS.

The tester should never be asked to paste a password, token, cookie, or server address.

## Finish the pilot

After using the BOS, run the built-in feedback interview:

- Codex: `Run the BOS Lite pilot feedback interview.`
- Claude: `/bos-lite:give-feedback`

It creates `bos-lite-feedback.md`, a safe summary the tester can send back without including connected records or secrets.

Use `TESTER-CHECKLIST.md` for the recommended 15-minute test.

If workplace policy blocks plugin installation, open `BOS-Lite-Offline-Preview.html` to review the visual experience. Mark that feedback as **visual-only**: the preview cannot use native Projects or connections and is not a Cowork Live Artifact.

## What Lite is — and what it is not

BOS Lite provides the cohesive eight-room experience, native Project mapping, approved host connections, honest data-source labels, and portable modules. It is intentionally lightweight.

The full BOS becomes appropriate when the customer wants persistent cross-system memory, always-on agents and automation, deeper custom integrations, richer communication surfaces, or a dedicated managed runtime.
